AUSTRAHORT NEWSLETTER

APRIL 2009

Message from Mike

Dear Customers,

I am writing this newsletter today on the eve of my departure to the Middle East where I will be traveling on seed and related matters until April 11th. For a company so heavily committed to exports, it is essential to continue to travel despite the vexing global financial conditions we experience. It is interesting to note that despite the very public comments in relation to the collapsed property boom in Dubai, other Emirates of the UAE and adjoining countries are still experiencing buoyancy due to their much stronger deposits of oil and gas. We must keep on keeping on, as the old saying goes!

In this newsletter there are some impending collections of important seasonal lines, some of which we have discounted for the period, Ravenala madagascariensis and Butia capitata for instance. Additionally, we are featuring plants we have growing on the South coast of NSW, Beaucarnea recurvata, (Pony Tail) and Kentia forsteriana. We have many hundreds of these plants in ground, plants that you can see are now ready to market, the attraction being that they can be immediately placed into landscape projects with no need for growing on. Please note the excellent ‘bowls’ on the Ponies, probably one of the toughest plants I have ever associated with – simply bullet proof!  Please contact the office with expressions of interest thank you.

A quick reminder about our Charlie Carp Liquid Fish Fertiliser – we are promoting the sales of 200 and 1000 litre containers of this excellent liquid fertilizer, used both as a pre emergent soil application and post emergent foliar spray. Please contact us directly or visit our website for more information.

My thanks to all our customers in many diverse regions and countries of the world. Seed sales continue showing only mild reductions which must translate to the fact that grown plants are moving through nurseries – long may it continue I hear you say!

Best wishes

Mike Farrar
