AUSTRAHORT NEWSLETTER

DECEMBER 2009

Message from Mike

Dear Customers,

Well the year has certainly passed quickly, for us, a good year and my thanks to all our many customers, all of whom directly contribute to our modest success – thanks again and the best wishes for Christmas, the festive season and of course, the new year.

Sean and I have travelled through the Middle East promoting the AustraBlend Super Soil, a month long visit to six countries where we found that despite oil wealth, general business is constrained and the debt load of Dubai overhangs all speculative investment resulting is generally subdued trading conditions. Despite this reality, we have trials in all countries and are anticipating strong interest for our product in the new year.

Returned to find that the collection season in Queensland and NSW is generally poor – no doubt attributed to changing weather conditions but the impact on seed availability is troubling, many Acacia species failing to set seed at all. Our stocks are adequate but if demand is as normal, there will be shortages all over.

Shipments to Western Australia – Seed shipment will now need to be supported by documentation from DPI confirming seed cleanliness etc. DPI charges are considerable thus we will be consolidating orders to minimize costs. This may result in small delays however offset against the cost, we hope to provide the required documentation for approximately $ 85 per transaction – please discuss with Margaret or Narelle at the time of order thanks.

Christmas Closure – We will cease trading Christmas Eve and reopen Monday January 4th, may I please ask that payment be made for any accounts falling due within that period, thank you.

Crinum pedunculatum – As usual, collections occur immediately prior to Christmas and are held in our refrigerated rooms prior to dispatch first week January. Please consider your needs and order now if required thanks.

Native grass seed – We have very good stocks of these, please see our promotion and place orders at these discounted levels along with the other mentioned specials.

Once again, on behalf of our wonderful staff, my thanks and best wishes for the coming period.

Mike Farrar
