AUSTRAHORT NEWSLETTER

OCTOBER 2008

Message from Mike

Dear Customers,

With this Newsletter, we are pleased to advise customers of details of our new website – still addressed as www.austrahort.com.au , but now with a modern, user friendly layout as well as a totally functional on–line shopping facility, still under construction but due to be completed shortly.

Our newsletter will continue to be available for viewing and the new website will enable us to update our customers on our latest specials, promotions and new products on an ongoing basis. Once the shopping facility is fully functional we will contact our customers by email and ask them to visit the website and update their details to obtain a username and password to enable them to shop securely online, as well as receive our newsletters and other correspondence. We trust you will find this upgrade of benefit and encourage customers to shop on-line where ever practicable.

With the widening interest in Carbon Offsets, we are seeking ways in which we can optimize our potential as seed suppliers to Revegetation interests and I noted with interest that the now leader of the Federal Opposition stated on Sept 4th that “ there are vast areas of Australia where there’s the opportunity to reforest areas often with trees that have virtually no value from a timber point of view, such as Eucalyptus mallees.” The Mallee is of course regionally specific, however there are very many species endemic to stressed and marginally unproductive agricultural areas of Australia that could be resown either by seed or plant material to take advantage of the enormous and varied gains from carbon sequestration – any recommendations or ideas from our readers will be appreciated.

Baby girl – Jasmine (Jaz) Carter, whom you will all know from the seed room has given birth to a little girl and I know all who came into contact with Jaz would congratulate her and wish them both the very best.

Resulting from misdescription, one of our clients has grown approximately 50 000 tubes of Dianella longifolia which we are attempting to place for them. Would anyone interested please contact us without delay thanks.

Once again my sincere thanks to all for your continued support and I trust that the following items for fresh collection will fit into your production schedules as well as the specials for the two months of this Newsletter validity.

Best wishes
Mike Farrar
