Common Name: Tamarillo
A small tree/shrub growing to 5 m. Native to South America but cultivated in many countries. Fast growing, bearing fruit in two years. Clusters of up to 50 pink/white flowers produce one to six fruits per cluster. Edible fruit are egg-shaped, 4 to 10 cm long, yellow/orange to red/purple. The yellow/orange fruit tend to be sweeter. Prefers subtropical climates and is frost tender. Can be grown as an indoor plant.
