TAMARINDUS indica

Common Name:  Tamarind

A medium evergreen legume tree growing 12 to 18 m, native to tropical Africa but widely cultivated around the world.  This ornamental tree produces numerous pods containing edible brown fruit pulp, used in many cuisines around the world.  The pulp has also been used to polish brass and copper.  Highly wind resistant, prefers tropical and subtropical climates and full sun.
